Teach For Uzbekistan

Applications open in 2 days

Two years that change lives — yours and your students’

The Fellowship is a two-year leadership program in education. Participants go through a competitive selection process and are placed as teachers in schools across the regions.

We don’t choose people who “just want to try teaching” — we look for those with character, values, and a genuine intention to act. What matters to us is motivation, personal responsibility, the desire to learn and grow, leadership potential, and alignment with our values. The selection process is led by a team of experts: each stage is a chance to show who you are, and to find out whether the path of leadership through education is right for you.

Becoming a Fellow means joining a community of leaders — within Teach For Uzbekistan, and within the global Teach For All movement.

What a Fellow does

  • Teaches and inspires children

You bring subject expertise into the classroom, help students discover their talents, spark curiosity, and encourage them to set ambitious goals.

  • Drives change in the local community

You design and launch projects that improve the school and community environment — from clubs to social initiatives.

  • Grows as a leader

You receive mentorship, experiment with new approaches, and learn to lead people and processes — building the foundation for the large-scale, high-responsibility work that comes after the Fellowship.

Is the Fellowship for you?

  • It is for you if…

You are 22–40 with at least a bachelor’s degree; you want to teach and lead in a regional school for two full years; you take responsibility, want to learn and grow, and share our values. A teaching degree is not required — we train you.

  • It is probably not for you if…

You want to keep another job or your studies alongside the Fellowship (it is full-time); you are looking for a short trial rather than a two-year commitment; or you are not ready to live and work in one of the program regions.

Voices of our Alumni

  • Before requiring something from my students, I want to be a living example myself. I want to plant in their minds the belief that “Yes, it can be done”.

    Abdullajon Oripov

    Alumnus (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

  • You must win a student’s heart, and only then nurture a love for the subject. When children feel supported, they begin to see both their studies and themselves differently.

    Boburjon Idrisov

    Alumnus (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

  • Through Teach For Uzbekistan I began striving toward greater goals. The program helped me identify the most important thing: my mission in life.

    Kamal Tolibayev

    Alumnus (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

  • It is always difficult to be among the first to walk a new path. What motivated us was the opportunity to give schoolchildren useful, high-quality knowledge.

    Khakimjon Khusanov

    Alumnus (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

  • The program gave me so much: priceless colleagues, beloved students, and an experience that could not be found anywhere else.

    Mohirabonu Abdurahimova

    Alumna (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

  • The main result was the understanding that even one person has the power to change someone else’s life.

    Nafisa Turaeva

    Alumna (2024–2026), Kashkadarya

Frequently asked questions

Who can become a Fellow?

We look for motivated, capable young people with leadership potential — not necessarily a teaching background. What matters most is character, motivation, personal responsibility, and alignment with our values, evaluated alongside subject knowledge and communication skills.

Do I need a teaching degree or prior teaching experience?

No. Many Fellows come from fields outside education. We provide full pedagogical training through the Fellowship and Summer Institute before placement. Fellows must have at least a bachelor’s degree.

What subjects do Fellows teach?

Priority subjects include mathematics, sciences (biology, chemistry, physics), English, and IT/computer science — based on where partner schools have the greatest need.

When can I apply for the next Fellowship?

Applications for the 2027–2029 Fellowship open on 15 October 2026 and close on 30 April 2027.

How competitive is the process?

Very — recent cycles have drawn well over a thousand applications for a limited number of spots, so we encourage anyone interested to prepare a strong application.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. Applicants must be 22–40 years old, citizens of Uzbekistan, and hold at least a bachelor’s degree by the start of the program. Preference is given to university graduates and young professionals. The eligibility self-check on the home page of our Admission Portal lists every requirement.
