How selection works
A roadmap of the selection process for the 2027–2029 Fellowship.
15 October 2026 – 30 April 2027
Stage 1 — Online application
Submit your application: personal and contact details, educational background (university, degree, transcript), professional experience, and a short written response. This stage also includes a phone-call interview with our team. What we’re looking for: subject knowledge, leadership potential, readiness to work in the regions, motivation, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
Scheduled at points across the application window
Stage 2 — Assessment Center
Held in person, in Tashkent and in the regions, and runs a few hours. Through group activities and real-world simulations, we assess intellectual depth, emotional intelligence, collaboration, moral reasoning, and teaching potential — how you think, feel, and act under real conditions, not just what you say about yourself.
July–August 2027, five weeks
Stage 3 — Summer Institute
An intensive pre-placement training program. Successful graduates begin teaching in September 2027.
Who we look for
- Age 22–40 with at least a bachelor’s degree
- Motivation, personal responsibility and the desire to learn and grow
- Leadership potential and alignment with our values
- Subject knowledge, communication skills and emotional intelligence
- Readiness to work in the regions for two full years
How to prepare
- Read the Fellowship pages and the FAQ, so you know what the two years involve before you apply.
- Think of concrete examples of when you took responsibility, led others, or kept going when things were hard — we ask about them.
- Be ready to say why you want to teach in the regions, and why now.
- At the Assessment Center, be yourself: we look at how you think, cooperate and act, not at rehearsed answers.
- Keep your phone number and e-mail up to date, so the interview call reaches you.
Questions about selection
What are the stages of selection?
Three stages: (1) Online Application, including a phone interview; (2) an in-person Assessment Center in Tashkent or the regions; (3) the five-week Summer Institute. See the Selection Process page for the full roadmap.
What happens at the Assessment Center?
Through group activities and real-world simulations, we assess intellectual depth, emotional intelligence, collaboration, moral reasoning, and teaching potential.
Do I get to choose which region or school I’m placed in?
Placement is matched to where the need is greatest, based on the current program regions. If you have a preference, we will consider your choice.
