Participants of the Central Asian Climate Conference in Muynak

The Central Asian Climate Conference was held in Muynak, marking the completion of the first stage of the Climate Education and Leadership program. Over three days, participants from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan shared their experiences, presented the results of their projects, and discussed future initiatives in climate education.

Muynak was chosen as the conference venue for a reason. The Aral Sea region provides a powerful illustration of the consequences of environmental change and highlights the importance of environmental literacy, responsible attitudes toward the environment, and collective action.

Together with local and regional experts and activists, participants discussed pressing environmental challenges in Central Asia, exchanged ideas and experiences, and worked on solutions that could be further developed in their own communities.

One of the conference’s key themes was moving from knowledge to action. Alongside reviewing the results of completed projects, participants gained new knowledge and tools to further develop their initiatives.

A patchwork piece created collectively by all participants became a symbol of the conference. Bringing together individual pieces of fabric, stories, and ideas, it reflected the shared identity of the region and our collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges.

From the shores of Issyk-Kul to the Aral Sea region, program participants are united by a shared goal: to advance climate education and seek solutions together for a more sustainable future for Central Asia.
